Winthrop, Our Home
A visit to Winthrop, located at the base of the North Cascades along Highway 20, is a step back in time. The old wooden buildings and covered boardwalks that line Winthrop's main corridor paint a picture of life in the old west.
For many generations, Native Americans called the Methow Valley home, fishing and hunting in a land rich with resources. In 1883, the allure of gold brought prospectors to the area. Pioneers built homesteads, stores, and the Duck Brand Saloon, said to be the best saloon in the country. It still stands as Winthrop's town hall. In 1924, the town was officially established. With the completion of State Route 20 in 1972, business owners came together for a Western themed restoration of the town of Winthrop, which is still enjoyed by travelers and tourists to this day.
Winthrop is an outdoor playground, renowned for its countless summer and winter activities. These are just a few of the activities the Methow Valley has to offer.
